Spawn for Fun

The other day, while me and my staffs were working on seemingly forever project called, Envible, we decided to take some pieces out of the existing modules, and then to turn them into small services. Our grandiose project, Envible is actually composed of many exciting features, and each of them could be stand-alone services.

Envible was started because we needed video conferencing tools for internal training on image recognition and other advanced computer vision knowledge. We were poor (actually we still are…), and could not afford the fees to pay highly decorated experts, not to mention the difficulty of finding one locally. So we started to develop video conferencing software for hosting instructors, mostly PhD students and some professors, over the Internet. Although the attempt was capricious, we enjoyed good seminars or lectures on reasonable fees. We managed to keep the fees lower by asking the experts to explain Power Point slides that we searched and downloaded from the net. This way, the instructors didn’t even worry about the materials.

This small internal project lead us to believe that people and companies around the world can learn as the same way we learn: collaboratively with thousands of artifacts such videos, audios, and other multimedia files already available from the Internet. Although in process of developing the service, Envible, we set the goal little bit higher thus taking little more time to finish.

Finally, the other day, we came up with an idea that letting people to use the video conference tool with whatever intentions they have in mind. Since “Meetings,” the video conferencing, in Envible would also be FREE, why not make people happy by use it for free without knowing the Envible concept. May be, you can start a lecture, webinar, or just simple whiteboard drawing chat with your pals. Hence the name derived, “Palbee.”

There is one catch though. It’s all free for one hour with five video attendees, including the master. However, at any time, Palbee can allow only TEN video meeting rooms simultaneously. That means if you come to the site, and all ten rooms are filled with people, then you should wait until a room cleared up. Due to the bandwidth and everything, this “Larva version” only performs that way. May be, if people ask more, then its “metamorphosis” into adult would be filled with succulent features. Until that day, enjoy what we can offer now.
